like to get a bike in the $3000 range...any ideas? I like the look of the newer bikes, but I don't want to spend too much money...

check the cycle trader if you have that where your at. Ive seen 05s in there with a little damage for like 4000

3 grand you may find a track bike or a streetable 99/00 F4.

If you are in SoCal, then $3000 will get you something in the late 90's or a bike that has been down pretty hard.

i got my bike, which has a salvage title, for 2000 bux. It wasnt in horrible shape, but i do need to fix all the plastics up (each one is scraped or cracked). But, the insurance is cheap... seeming how they can only put PLPD on it.

Something to look into...

The F4i is a great bike. Any of them from '01-'06 are identical, with the exception of the split seats of the '01-'03 years and the single seat from '04-'06. I'm sure the '99-'00 F4 is just as good too, but it's not fuel injected and a little different body work and guages. Get the newest you can afford.
You might also want to look into the 600RR from '03 on up, but not sure how much they're going for.

i got a nice ' 01 f4i for $3300, nothing wrong, never been down...so its possible to get something decent for that much. Good luck. If you live in New England, check Uncle Henry's.

f4i pretty spendy depends on a year. but i guess i got lucky with my friend that i knew for a while he laid his down and then after a year sold it to me for $1500.00 no major damage. get to know youre local bike riders someone will always have something selling good luck with the search
