Default How many miles is too many

I haven't really posted here since I sold my 02 f4i a couple years ago but I'm thinking of buying another one and have found a very clean black and white 02 that I can get for $3500. Problem is it has 21k miles on it and Im not sure if that's a lot for a bike. I bought my last bike with 2200 miles and sold it with 6500. Is it safe too buy a bike with this many miles if it rides fine at the moment?

a motorcycle will run forever the 4 cylinders in them are just mini car motors... if well maintained they can easily run just as long as a 4 cylinder car which can run for hundreds of thousands of miles.... so if the bike looks very clean and the oil checks out and they use a good filter then no there shouldnt be any problems... just dont buy a bike that had the crap beat out of it and has that many miles

Yeah, watch out for stunt bikes. The F4i is very popular for stunting. Got in an argument with a stunter who was complaining about the engine seizing cause the oil kept leaking out during stunt sets.

The argument was that after seizing the engine once, she might as well have tossed the engine out. That all the rebuilding her boyfriend did was wasted effort. And no matter what she could do on the bike, MOTORCYCLES WERE NEVER DESIGNED FOR STUNTING.

I bought my 2002 F4i with 20k miles on it last year. I knew the kid, the bike was in amazing shape when I inspected it and took it out for a spin I was all teeth...so needless to say I bought it. And I absolutely still love the bike.

Just be sure to inspect it thoroughly!

21K is nothing if well maintained.

I recall someone on this forum had one with 60K with no mechanical faults worth noting.

Ya, that is not a lot of miles if taken care of decently. My 1991 F2 had almost 100,000 kms on it before a valve problem stopped me riding it (new motor going in soon... cost $300). And there is a few guys on here with well over 100,000 on the F4i.

You guys seen a video on Youtube with a guy riding his F4i and filmed it when the odometer crossed over 100,000 mi...very impressive mileage. In case you haven't...here it is. Quite impressive

Whats with people thinking anything over 10,000 is a lot? These bikes will last you 1,000,000 miles if maintained. Heck I know a lot of guys with track bikes that have 50,000+ on them and that's the hardest type of riding for an engine.

Yep, Watch out for stunters. I'm at 26k miles and i've had parts fall off after a wheelie.
