those resistors are ceramic.... they should not get hot. high wattage components usually have a good insulation casing.
also, the bikes cylinders get up to thousands of degrees and the outside of the case might reach 300oF. i think the bike can take the warmth, no?

AXSYS I think im gonna go with the relay. but im gonna wait a bit and just deal with the faster flash rate for now. Where is the stock flasher relay located ??

100ohm@10W will do and splice one end to the signal end and the other connect to ground. that will reduce the current enough to slow down the blinks....

bottom line, he can do whatever he wants and relay is a more expensive route; which as a result the relay will do the same job of reducing the current by stepping down the voltage.

what brand of integrated taillights did you get? i got the clear alternatives and they came with resistors but i liked the faster blink rate so i never put them on. maybe you can call the dealer or company and see if they will give/send you some. its only right. tell them the cops pulled you over for the fast blinkers. usaully that means a light is out or broken thats why they blink fast. i remember when i had a acura i cut the ground wires so that i could get the faste blink. hope i helped and not confused the situation more. but im always up for trying to get free ish. lol.

06CBRF4i, the stock flasher relay is on the back of the headlight housing between the bulbs. if you reach in there, you should feel 2 small relays and a big box in between them (bank angle sensor), it is the small relay on the right.

but in response to ale....those resistors do heat up quite a bit as the tutorial states.....i know i read one tutorial where he said it melted his fairing a little on the inside....and you're right the bike does get hot, but the heat is so concentrated from the resistor and focused that it makes it slightly more potent.....
bottom line, either way works, just have to choose your poison.....
