Default Hotbodies undertail lighting/wiring (parts info/pics req)

My bike came with a hotbodies undertail or a knock off. Tag mount MIA, wiring pretty bad, integrated lighting module failing or wired incorrectly.

I've removed the module and tossed some aux turn signals on and cut a tag mount out of aluminum stock so I could ride it.

Anyone have any detailed info on the undertail as a kit, wiring instructions, parts list, etc.

I'd like to go back to an integrated tail but don't have a clue if my LED's are the stock ones that came with the unit or anything. The PO of my bike thought beer stickers were more important than tires so I can't go there for info.

Thanks!

I had the same issue and completely cut mine out and installed a integrated one, I'm now ordering the pimpbike undertail so it'll fit the integrated tail light. I'd look into that if I was you.

It would appear that my kit is a pimpbike undertail not a hotbodies. Didn't know there was another mfg of 01-03 f4i undertails And it appears that my tail has the non turn tail lights and for $25 I can get the ones with signals integrated.

I have the pimpbikes tail with those LED's. Theyre super bright and look really good but when youre on your brakes the light totally overpowers your signal and it becomes useless.

Took me about 10 minutes to install (wiring time not included). I just cut the existing tail right behind the battery. I didnt remove anything or adjust anything. just made the cut and it was enough for the new tail to fit.

You can see the gap around the edge on the second picture... it obv doesnt fit perfectly. I bought some plastic screw-type rivets on ebay and added some around the edge to make it fit.

and the overall quality of the lights themselves is kinda meh. ive already been looking for replacements.

So the turn signal LEDs get washed out by the brake LEDs?

Thats how I feel too. They are perfectly visible at night but leaves something to be desired in any light at all. The cover is foggy too... which diffuses the light some.

Thinking of taking some measurements and seeing if superbrightleds.com can hook me up with replacements
