Question help removing inside part of bar end

I took my bar ends off but I don't know how to take the inside portion out. I have lever guards that I want to swap them out with. Thanks

Spray WD40 into handlebar, partially install bar ends back on and pull really hard to pull out the internal parts with bar ends still attached.

To secure those lever guards, you may need rubber shims inside the handlebar.

thanks a lot! I asked this on another forum and just got bitched out over it. I had already looked in my clymer manual and user manual but couldn't find anything in the books and nothing specific to my bike online. Could I just get some kind of rubber tube cover at lowes? Or just spray the end with plastidip since it's rubber?

If u have used / flat bicycle inner tube, cut them up to little piece that can be used as shims wrap around the lever guard expandable nut inside the handlebar.

Sounds awesome. I have a bicycle that needs a new tube
What about those little tabs on the inside or whatever they are? Do I just not worry about those and let them bend when I pull? Or do I need to find a tool to bend them first?

Plastidip would likely make a mess of everything, difficult to clean up when you want to remove the level guards, I would not recommend Plastidip unless on surface that touch your hands/gloves only.

I was talking about the visible parts. I want to make something that matches my bike. I'll use the tubes on the inside. Thanks!
