Default HELP! Need to keep starter pressed to stay on

Help! I was riding home last night in a light mist, suddenly my 600 F4i engine stops running. I hit the starter, bike starts and then dies instantly when the starter button is released. I rode for 15 seconds with the starter button pressed (I know, bad for the starter) and then the released the button and the bike ran fine. This morning with the bike dry and cold, SAME thing is happening, bike dies instantly when I let go of the starter button.

Thoughts? Thanks in Advance.

check for these symptoms.

are your turn signals and high beam indicators on, on your speedometer?
do you hear your fuel pump priming?

i also had the same problem at the headlight harness. the indicators lit up and the bike wouldnt stay running unless i held the starter in. if you pull the headlight fuse and it runs fine then thats definately the problem.

solved problem last year. It was a bad connector on clutch side high fairing. You need to jumper the ground wire around the harness. Presto, problem fixed.
