Hate to say it but your neighbor is wrong. The guy who fixed my palstics that were ruffed up good by the previous owner, does all kinds of custom fab work to different bikes, and does alot of cutting and welding on gas tanks.

Here's his website that he just got up and running. http://kustompaintwerks.com/?p=1

This is my 2001 Honda CBR F4i. 47XX Miles.

Mods that came with it:
- Two Brothers Exhaust
- Frame Sliders
- Flush F Signals (What is this?)
- Tinted Windscreen
- Rear Fender Eliminator

Like I mentioned before the obvious flaw was the dent on the left side of the gas tank.

My neighbor is a mechanic and told me his instructor told him dents on gas tanks cannot be fixed cause if there is a spark of some sorts an explosion would occur. Thought I would rather ask you guys better. lol
It'd be true assuming someone took a welding torch to a tank full of gas. But I believe that generally is covered by Darwinism

Any body work done on a gas tank should be done with the tank empty and having been opened to air for a while. That way all the gas insides evaporates and the fumes clear out

3 guesses I'd make:
  • Something fell on it (off the shelf of the garage, wife / gf / kid dies horribly)
  • Someone intentionally smacked it (slow painful death of the vandal)
  • It fell over and landed on a raised surface, hitting the tank but keeping the rest of the bike off the ground (cry myself to death)

^LOL^

You can pop it. I'd say try something like the DingKing, pop it w/ the sealed air method, or since it's close to the top of the take, I'm wondering if you could stick something in your tank and pop it from the inside? Just a thought.

If all else fails, sell me yours, and buy a new one.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will defintely take everyones advice into consideration and make this a priority once the good weather comes into NYC. It sucks I bought the bike, rode it about three times then had to winterize it. Lol. I guess it will be a nice summer this year.

It was love at first sight with this bike! Never plan on selling it sorry lol

thanks once again everyone

When you pop it please post pics. I have a dent in my tank and before I go spend money(college kid) on the ding king I want to make sure it works!
