Default Help!!!

Ok so I baught a 2001 CBR 600 F4i a couple days ago from a private seller. The first day and part of the second day it runs great, no problems. But as I'm driving home on the highway (going around 80mph)the rpms go from 6000 to 0. Then it kicks back on and goes back to 6000,and immediatly goes back to 0.Then it does it again and again. I finally merged over to the shoulder and once there the bike dies. I let it sit for a couple minutes then start it up and it runs perfectly for around 10 miles then the same thing happens again, but this time when it starts to kick, i somehow ride it out and keep it going untill I get home. When I got home I checked the battery and it is putting out 12.9 volts.(Earlier that day the battery died andI replaced it with a battery that is similar to the YTZ10s, since no stores around had the recommended battery)And today I tried to drive the bike again and I made it maybe 50 yards and it did it again and died. I was hoping somebody out there knows what could be wrong. Also what does the solid red light on the dash next to the neutral light mean?

I think your battery cables are loose, not making a good connection. Is the clock reseting when this happens? the red light is the oil light (left) FI light (right)

does only the tach fall or all the gauges turn off? if only the tach it could be the crankshaft position sensor...

Alright Thanks guys. I took out the battery and put it back in, and went for a ride. I ran it pretty hard and there were no problems. So hopefully it was just the battery.

Yeah, I think it's the battery. Make sure everything is tightened up.
