Default Helmet Lock

The lock mechanism under my rear seat likes to break at very inconveniant times, like when my helmet is locked in it and i'm not at home. Today i ended up just riding home with no helmet. I've had to pull the front seat off and fix the lock a number of times, but it always seems to get F'd up again. Any suggestions? Has anybody else had this problem. I have an '03 F4i

when you "fix" the lock - what are you having to fix?

By fixing it I mean readjusting the metal thingie that attaches to the actual piece that locks. It somehow comes un-attatched and needs to be adjusted to work correctly. If you look under the rear seat you'll see what i mean.

It's the metel thread with a tiny metal cylinder at the end. The cylinder fits into another metal piece that actually locks the seat in. That is the part that comes out

yeah, guys - i don't think he is referring to the helmet lock. it's the locking mechanism for the whole seat that he's referring to.

i can't say i'm aware of this as an issue -- might try something to secure the cable in the socket better -- a wire tie, jb weld, whatever works for the situation.

yeah im with you on that one, the helmet lock doesn't "come off" Now iv had problems getting my helmet out of it cause its a tight squeeze. I would make sure I fix this right, what ever you are trying is not working if you know whats needs to be done and you cant do it take it to a mom and pop body shop im sure they can correct it either with a spot weld, or another method.
