I run 87, always have unless it's not available (with the way gas prices are [:@], sometimes the "cheap" stuff is sold out). Buddy of mine used to run premium in his ZZR-12 but recently switched to 87 ($$$) and he said that there isn't much of a difference. Who knows!?!?
Yea, this kind of post is available all over the forum. However; everyone has mixed feelings about this topic. People state the f4i manual use 87 oct. I use 89 and some times on cold day 93. Just experiment and see what works best for you.
Higher octane has more detergents and cleaners which make it burn cleaner and help to keep your injectors and internal parts cleaner so to me its worth the extra price if you want to keep your bike for the long haul.
I use 93 on mine havent had a problem with it at all
I have had the bike for about 3 months.
Dealer suggested it and plus up here in D.C.
reg is just as close to premium in price 315-330 that extra 15 cents isnt going to hurt you its only 3-4 gallons anyway.

the octane rating on gas is a measurement of how quickly the fuel burns when ignited in the chamber, the higher the rating the slower it burns, therefore if you use higher octane than what the engine was designed for the gas that is not burned during combustion goes out the exhaust(wasted money). If you use lower rated gas in an engine designed for a slow burning fuel, ie.. engines with higher compression ratios the fuel burns off before it should, causing detonation and engine damage. Just use what is recommended by the manufacturer, they know what the engine was designed for.
