Front BRAKE LOCK UP
#11
If I recall..the wreck was NOT caused by "faulty levers" but by user error. Incorrect installation will generally result in issues down the road!
Anyways..as Lizardking said: Always test & double check a component that you've tinkered with before going out on the road. Brakes are absolutely crucial.
Standard bleeding procedure is as follows:
1) Get brake fluid reservoir level
2) Open it up, suck up most of the old fluid out with a syringe or something similar (leave some fluid in there as to not introduce more air bubbles in the system)
3) Top the reservoir up
4) Pump the brakes a few times, make sure you have a hose hooked up the to the caliper nipple (only do one caliper at a time if doing the front)
5) Open nipple, squeeze brake
6) Close nipple, release brake
7) Repeat steps 5&6 until you see no more bubbles coming out for at least 3 squeezes
8) Make sure brake fluid stays topped off throughout the procedure
9) If doing front brakes, make sure the other side is done too!
Careful to not get any Dot 4 brake fluid on fairings...
