Nah, stick with the cuts, better product. As for the hole, I took the fairing off and used a little laser penlight taped to a bucket aimed at the center of the bolt where the sliders go, then adjusted it so it so that it was the same height from ground as the bolt hole and pointing along the same line the bolt goes in, if you leave the bolt in its easier to line the laser up. Then, being careful not to move the bike or bucket, slip the fairing back on and put a screw or two in so its in the right spot, mark it where the lasers hitting it, take the fairing back off and double check that the lasers still hitting the center of the hole and drill away. It sounds complicated but it's the easiest way I've found that I trust to be dead on. As long as you double check that the lasers still hitting the center of the bolt hole after you take the fairing off then its impossible for your hole to be off. Drilled my holes less than an 1/8" larger than the sliders and the holes came out dead on. I didn't come up with this, I stumbled across someone elses post somewhere that mentioned using a laser and keifed the idea.
Oh, one last thing, make sure you have the bike pretty much level if you do it this way or it won't like up right.

I have the woodcraft sliders (cut type). Used a laser pen attached to a camera tripod, a circular saw, some masking tape (to mark the hole and for protection). Finally deburred the holes with a very sharp knife and sandpaper. A guy who is dead set against cut type said the job looked factory so I'm pretty pleased.
