If you aren't going to change the seals yourself then $250 is good whether you like it or not.

the ccts dont go bad but they are notorious for ur "rattling sound" so im sure thats what your hearing... ide just get a manual one off ebay... and look up some threads on how to do it yourself on here on the forum... its pretty easy from what ive seen....

sounds to me like the mechanic is trying to pull a fast one on you to make some easy money.....

never walk into a shop saying whats wrong always say you think its this or that even if ur really not sure bc otherwise they will throw really expensive parts in there to make money... parts u dont even need

SIDE NOTE not all shops are out to get you but a honest shop (esp. in these economic times) it hard to come by but they are out there....

next time u walk in tell them ur vetzer valve has gone bad and ask how much it is to fix it... haha jk

Just get an APE manual CCT...and I recommend you have it professionally installed. If you get the auto CCT...by all means install it yourself, but an incorrectly installed manual CCT is nothing to joke about. I luv the APE manual, it is installed in my bike and I paid something to the tune of $120 if I remember correctly to get it installed this past fall.

What's your bike's mileage? CCT making this rattling noise is a very common problem for hondas as zmds noted. You will need to swap that pesky CCTL alone to manual one, and happiness will be with you.

It's pretty difficult to do it yourself if you haven't ever done anything on bikes. The F4is have very small space around it. We ended up taking off throttle body to set the proper tension. It can be done without taking the throttle body, but then I'm not sure how it will work out.
