Default fork seal

i blew out the fork seal on the left fork and was thinking of rebuilding them myself, i am pretty good at turning wrenches but was just wondering how big of a job it is, and if i should just have a shop do it for me. what do you think it would cost?

Default RE: fork seal

Generally $100 - $150 a piece if you bring them the fork. Rebuilding your forks isn't that difficult but you gotta know two rules:
1) Get a manual and all special tools that are required. Home made improvised tools are a recipe for f'ing up.
2) Neatness counts. Measure fluids to the nearest ml, check springs and other components for runout and make sure stuff is in spec.

The first time you do your forks it'll prolly cost you as much as taking it to the dealer (parts and tools) but you'll know you did it right and you'll have everything you need for the next time.
