So I go out for my first ride of the season last night here in Indy and guess what happens next...Anyways I am now in the market for a new tire. So had a couple of questions:
1) Can I get a different brand rear tire from my stock front ones? Or will I have to replace my front ones as well?
2) Do I need to go a motorcycle dealer to get my new tires mounted onto the wheel or can I go to a regular tire shop?
3) Any good tire recommendations? And where can I order them from?

1) a different brand tire on the back will not make a difference...size may effect cornering and that ****
2) most likely a car tire shop will not have the machine if the tech is good he may be able to do it..., but any powersport dealership and or motorcycle shop can do it no problem
3)pirelli,shinko,dunlop,michelin

You can order online from ronayers.com or such
for performance recommendations, search for tire threads... there's a lot. key words again are pirelli, metzeler, michelin, dunlop
one key thing is that many dealerships/bike shops will mount/balance tires for free if you buy the tires for them. Weigh this against the discount you get from an online purchase... 99% car dealers will not have a bike tire machine.

Metzeler is what I've been riding... Talk to a dealer/bike shop.. they will usually work a deal out because of how cheap you can get online online..if you do buy it online, its going to cost you about $60 to get it mounted.. so like I said, talk to them, they will usually try to work something out
