Default First crash good/bad news

So today I tasted grass for the first time

Decided to go ride to check out my new helmet, I'm glad I decided to go w full gear (boots, jacket, gloves, helmet). Came out a courve at about 55mph, a stupid car was beginning to pass another car not far away from me so either I hit it head on or drop in on the grass next to me. I slowed down as much as I could and ended up dropping her at about 30ishhhh. Completely broke off the front fairing the dash/screen bracket snapped in half, chain came off. I slid about 15 feet.

Happy to be alive but my bike is fked, she will need new plastics for sure now at least the front one the rest can be sanded down and painted flat black for now. I tried starting her as soon as I got home but she has a solid RED light left of the green N light. Sounds as if the starter wants to go but she won't come on at all

Any help is appreciated on finding parts and figuring out the problem

Happy BDAY to me

First, glad you're able to write about it!

Did the person that was making the pass stop? Depending on how it all happened they could be considered at fault

Lastly, does the new helmet have to be replaced?

Yeah glad to be alive for sure!!!

No the guy did not stop but the car he was passing stopped, I don't have the complete plate number so I'm trying to figure it out but we are missing 2 numbers so not sure how easy that will be.

The helmet barely has a scuff from the grass since I mostly slid on my hands, and then flipped to the back once I stopped. Pants and knees are pretty scuffed from the grass as well. My thumb is broken

I also broke the gear lever when I dropped her on the left side. Just starting to notice more and more scratches here and there

Agreed with Scott above - might want to consider a new helmet/jacket armor plates/pads if you hit it as it/they might have lost the integrity when produced.

But dude, glad to hear you're ok!

Even if you have a partial number the police can run it and with the description of the car that can get all they need.

Wow dude, thats pretty ****ty. Glad you made it out relatively unscathed. Definitely work with the cops and see what can be done with a partial plate and vehicle. Unless I'm mistaken, leaving the scene of an accident involving an injury is a felony. Someones *** needs to get locked up after that.

Regarding the no start issue with the bike, possibly the tip sensor in the nose? I'm relatively new to F4is, so perhaps another member can go more into detail.

I would say your tip over sensor may have been damaged or torn loose in the crash if you ripped the nose fairing off. Its a little black box that sits just under your wind screen. Search tip over sensors on here, I guy has posted a nice little mod you can do to eliminate the sensor, once you fix that you may need to disconnect battery so the computer resets..just read his post, he explains and lays it out very simply, so should be an easy fix for you....

Glad you are ok and hope they catch the jerk who caused it!
