Default fiberglass fairing?

well today i saw friend's fiberglass fairing arrive in the mail today. When i saw it it was very flexible, and LOOKS very fragile.... Is this how fiberglass fairings are like, or he just got unlucky and bought a poorly made product? or are they just more fragile? I was thinking about getting fiberglass fairing for my self but after seeing that i have some doubts.

From my understanding, fiberglass is much more brittle than ABS plastic, and tends to crack before plastic would. This makes it less desirable for body work and hence it cost less. Fiberglass makes sense when used in a racing application. The cost of replacing it is verses plastic is much less. For normal street use, I think plastic would be more forgiving in the event a bike is dropped. Where it is not as likely to crack and force a replacement.

fiberglass can be very fragile becuase it cant flex like plastics can at the same time it is not entirly week. old corvette bodys were made entirely out of fiberglass the good thing about fiberglass compared to plastic is if you do break them there are extremly easy to fix. another down side to fiberglass is spider cracks caused by stess.
