Default Fi light on???

Okay so I bought a slavage title 2001 cbr600 f4i about a month ago from a dealership, they were going to send to auction. The rebuild looks like it has been done right other than I had to rewire some headlight wires (just twisted together). The main problem i am having is the FI light coming on and off, it almost seems like a bad ground. If the RPMs are increased the light on the speedo becomes brighter, At normal idle the light is barley on. Just looking if anyone had any suggestions on what I should try or test first, Thank you.

A good place to start is checking battery and charging voltages, along with jumping the diagnosic connector to get the fi code. Count the blinks of the light, long blinks are 10s, short blinks are 1s. 3 long with 4 short would be 34, for example.

Charging volts are good, I will jump the connector tomorrow. So it is kinda like a check engine light on a OBD 1 system. And I can Find the list of codes on this website??

the FI light could be due to the ECM being a CA version but you have a non-CA bike. is your ecm serial: 38770-mbw-a12? I believe the CA version has 'L' instead of an 'A'... does your bike have an 02 sensor or the connector?

exactly like an OBD 1. the codes are listed in the service manual, or post what you get and we will tell you what it means.

Okay so I had some time today to look into it some more today, i jumped the connector today (with a paper clip, didnt have a jumper wire with me) key on engine off. The were no lights that flashed on the speedo, does that mean there are no codes at this time? I also looked at the ECM serial, it is a 38770-mbw-a12. My friend told me to pull the plugs and see what they look like, but the bike only has 11k on it. Thanks agian for all the help and suggestions.

Check the service manual, you probally need to reset computer. I believe key on kill switch on, watch for light then within 5 seconds jump connector. That will clear computer. Then look for light, should come on then go out after few seconds. Just check manual first to make sure thats correct.
