Default FI light???

Hey, I am brand new to this two wheeled world. Just bought a 2001 F4i a couple weeks ago. After the engine has started the FI light will have two slow blinks followed by three fast blinks. I'm unsure if this could be related, but the bike will not recognize when the transmission is in the neutral position. I don't have an owners manual to help me out with this and I prefer to fix it myself rather than take it to a shop. Any insight that anyone can give would be appreciated very muh. bd

You need to find an Owners Manual, or Service Manual. There is a guide to the "blink codes" in both I believe. If you spend enough time on CBRF you just may be able to pick up both, I know i've seen them linked

You can also download the Service Manual here (it takes a little while for the page to fully upload). Check out Section 5 (in the manual), which lists how to read trouble codes (FI blinks), and contains instructions on utilizing the self-diagnosis function, which will help you isolate the problem.

Blink code 23 = Faulty O2 sensor heater. I use stephygee.com for downloads.
