Default Fast Idle Question

Hey Guys and Gals,

Quick question about fast idle for you. When you guys start your bike cold and the temp outside is 60°F+, does your bike fast idle? I thought I would ask before I change out my wax idle unit.

Thx
Moses

What do you mean by fast idle?
Mine always starts higher then 1300RPM's no matter what temperature on 1st start but it comes down faster when it is hotter.

Same here always faster when first started mauve around 2100rpm's, but drops to about 1400rpm's around 130°f.

When I start my bike it idles at 1,100 rpms and then once its upto 120°F+ it idles at 1,400 rpms. From the looks of it, I do need to rplace the wax idle unit.

Thx for the replies guys.

Yep, I just wanted to double check cause I'm not really looking forward to taking off the throttle body. Thx again Donny for pointing me in the right direction and the matter. Also from searching here on the forums most people that posted on the subject, there idle was stuck open and idling at 3,000-4,000 rpms. I also wasn't sure if it was just idling low cause it is summer and my garage avg temp this time of year is 75°F+.

Thx again
Moses

My F4i has a BMC filter, bootleg pipe and correctly mapped PC3

I have noticed lately that the COLD idle (not warmed idle..I set that to 1400 and it pegs it perfectly) it idles low at 1000-1100! It never used to do this (it would idle 2000-2200 upon cold start up then creep down)...I chalked it up to the PC3...it seems lately it has gotten worse though Barley holding 1000rpm upon cold start...never stalled..just seems to have a hard time? I also get the FI light every now and then.

Anyway, I unplugged and cleaned the MAP sensor connections and reset my battery to no avail....

What do you guys think? The bike runs strong as ever and I know the MAP is perfect for the pipe.

I mean Is it the wax unit? Would a wax unit go out after only 13k miles? How much and how hard is it to replace?

I know PC3's can do some wierd things/throw a FI light now and again but I cant figure this one out!

Thats exactly what mine is doing Noober. It all started after I installed my K&N air filter, Kleen air mod and PCIII w/ custom map. My FI light never comes on though since I installed a O2 sensor eliminator. I also left my PCIII plugged in and put my O2 sensor back into my mid pipe to see if that would help but it did not. The bike still idled the same w/ or w/ out the O2 sensor plugged into the mid pipe.

Maybe I'll hold off a few more days and see if other people are also having this same problem.

on a warm summer day, mine does the same thing on startup. it'll cold idle around 1000-1100 RPM before warming up to 1300-1400 RPM. when it's cold outside it will start at 2000-2500 then creep back down. it's kinda strange but its all good...bike runs great.

On every cold start my bike will go right up to about 2,000 rpm then when it gets up to about 110 segrees it starts to go back down around 1300
