Default Is the F4i underpowered compared to modern 600's?

I just raced a buddies gsxr600, and he beat me, despite me being more modded. I'm reading that the 07/08 rr's have excellent power for being a 600. Is the power difference significant between an F4i and the 07/08 rr?

The RR has 6 HP more than the F4i. The Gixxer has a few more as well.

Maybe you are not riding it hard enough. And, depending on where you are using the bike whether it be twisties or not.. Mine makes good power, and through twisties, I am not far behind my buddies R1's. (an 06 07 and the 09 was behind me) Straight aways, they leave but it's a 1000! LOL I love my 600. more so than the R6 and my brothers 2 bikes, a Yami and a Kawi ZX6R.

IMO, you may not be aggressive enough or are not within your power band.

Edit: The weight plays a huge role in the bike too. If you weigh 250 pounds, the 600 isn't going anywhere compared to a 160 pound guy sitting on it.

My .02

Mods for more HP output is worth nothing if the rider doesn't know how to use stock HP to the max with proper suspension setup.
Go to a track school and learn some proper riding skills, learn to setup your suspension for you riding needs, those would make you faster no matter which bike you are riding.

I raced 1/4 mile, though i have done roll races as well. From what i looked at online the f4i has 94whp, versus the 07/08 cbr rr's 106whp. That's more then 6hp.

On another note I only outweigh him by 20lbs. Granted my launch could've been better.

Others are right, its how you ride the bike. Yesterday I was in a group ride with mostly 1000's, only 3-4 had 600's including myself. And I kept up well enough with the 1000's. There was one guy with a 2012+ CBR600 and we both mashed it. To my surprise I was gaining and passed him.

Upgrade the rider. Then worry about the bike. The F4i has more than enough power to beat most, if not all, of these cars in this 1/4 race

Cool

IMO, no turns, no elevation changes = not a race; might as well ride a scooter if the "race" only involves straight line vehicle operation.

I've had my opinion changed about drag racers. There's a lot of skill involved. Two different riders, similar weight / height on the exact same bike at the exact same place. Yet they post significantly different times /speeds.

Skill has to be the difference. Nevermind some of the more heavily modded bikes would literally kill anyone who hopped on and simply whacked the throttle
