The ignition pulse generator rotor looks like a star and is right buy your clutch with a magnet on the crankcase cover. You have to take off the crankcase cover to get to it. Are you sure you plugged it back in? It will be a 2P red connector. If you need help identifying any of this download a PDF version of the service manual from the General Tech section and it will be on page 17-6.

I am assuming when you replaced your clutch you did not touch the rotor which is a star/gear looking just to the right of the clutch. If this is true I would start by looking at the magnet which is on the inside of the crankcase cover and held on my 2 bolts. Now once your looking at it I'm not too sure what to look for besides make sure nothing is bent or cracked or looks abnormal. The manual says you can check the volts at the 2P connector. Crank the starter and see how many volts you get, you should be getting a min of .7V. If it is out of range then you have a faulty ignition pulse generator.
