Question F4i or RR?

Hey there, I am very new to the sport and am doing some research before I make a purchase.
I am looking for late model 600 (2000-2008) and am wondering what is the difference between the F4i and the RR?
Which would be better for a new rider?

A new rider dont need a 600 in my book. The ninja 250 will be perfect and its sporty looking since they redid it. I am not being an *** just letting you know that a 600 is a very fast bike and not forgiving at all.

RR is more of a track bike and has a more leaned-forward riding stance. The powerband is different too. Either one is fine... don't listen to the guy who said get a 250. 600 is fine to start on unless you're a 5'2 girl or something.

Thank you , I think my biggest problem is going to be that I'm 6'2" and 240lbs. I might not fit.lol
Anyway, thanks for the info.

Here's an article listing most of the differences between the two.

Yeah, you might have to consider a bigger bike, lol. I work with a guy about your size, got a real good deal on a Busa (couple years ago) as his first bike; he's still alive.

Truthfully, I been riding about a year, and just got an f4 last week. I learned how to ride on a suzuki katana 600. The f4 or f4i is a fast friggin bike. Way faster acceleration than most sport cars even. And like others said, it is very unforgiving. One 1/4" turn of the throttle and it can send a beginner out of control coming out of a corner. Really if you are just learning to ride, you really need to focus on taking corners, learning how to counter-steer and lean into the turn. The last thing you need to be focussed on is trying not to turn the throttle a tiny bit too far.

I agree with you that you may be too big for a ninja 250 though, and would probably get bored with it in a week anyway. But there are other options for something not QUITE so volatile as a 600rr or f4i but still sporty bikes that you shouldn't get bored of for a season or 2. I would suggest the suzuki sv650 or ninja 650r, suzuki katana 600 (its a 600 i4 but not so violent). All of them have comfortable riding positions and enough power to have fun, but not entirely too much for a beginner. These are just my opinions anyway, good luck and ride safe on whatever you choose!

I am 6 ft 4, about 210. Well its winter now so about 220. I think an F4i is perfect. Just as long as u r not some hot headed kid looking to go fast. RESPECT the bike. Just like a gun, the minute you dont respect it is when its going to **** u up. But The f4i is more comfortable as it is not so leaned forward as the rr is. It is a 600 and I learned on it. It is my first bike and I still love it. A 250 you would sell after the first season. a 500 you would want more power. the 600 is a nice touch,. Just know that as you learn, it does have power and you need to ride between your boundaries. Take your time in learning it and enjoy the slow steady progression of becoming a skilled rider. Good luck and keep the rubber side down....always

in short... they are both amazing, but go for the RR. Be prepared to be maimed/disfigured/killed if you cant control yourself, though. If you dont have self control, you'll very likely be killed riding either bike.

Thats the worst advice ive ever heard.

Im 6' 3" 255.Had the bike sprung for my weight and fit on it fine.I actually fit worse on a 600rr.

I fit pretty good on my 1000rr though.

For a first time rider a nija 250 makes a great starter bike, remember this is your first bike not your last.
Also its better to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow..Seen many 600 and liter bikes get there *** handed to them by a good rider on a 250 in the mountains.
