Default F4i Question/Advice

Hey,
I am new to this forum so if i am reopening a past thread sorry! I am considering buying an 04 600 f4i, 1400 Miles on it, for $1000. The bike was wrecked and i have to replace all cosmetics: Fairings, Headlight, Gauges, and the seat. The bike has also has been sitting in a garage for about 1 1/2 years but there is no damage to the engine at all. This is probably a vague question but how much is it going to cost to get it running since it has been sitting for that long? Does anyone know about what a solid color custom paint job for a sportbike would cost? Does anyone know a good website to get stock or race fairings? What year modeled fairings will fit the 04? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I bought an '03 this way. I just rock the beat up plastic and wound up just needing a front cowl. In all honesty it takes a lot of work and $$. The plastics you can get cheap are just that cheap. I would try to get some oem ones. I can tell you it will cost at least $2500 to get it sweet. I only put $1000 into mine and it rides awesome. a great bike in my opinion.

I don't really know what is the best price for custom paint job but one guy told me he would do it for 1200 promising a very professional job.

Mine is 05 F4i and brand new set was priced around 1400 dolars at the dealership. I don't know 04 but 05 doesn't have gas tank cover. It's the gas tank itself that you need to replaces and it costs l!ke 400-600 alone.

Yeah i forgot to mention the gas tank is messed up. After buying the bike i have about $3500 to drop into this. I already have a bike, crappy kawi 650, and i want to have a more custom SS. Do you think it is worth putting the money into? I am hoping that i can have it running with a nice paint job and exhaust for $3500.

I think it all depends what you are looking for...

Are you planning to fix and sell it (and profit) ? or you want to fix it just for the fun of it?

Personally, I would do it just for the fun of it.

holy cow, 1200? or do you mean $120. For $1200 bucks you could buy all the equipment and paint to paint a dozen bikes. By professional job, I sure hope it includes a full airbrush mural of something on it. A good solid color paint job for a bike should be no more than $400-$500 tops. DIY, if you have the equipment or know of someone, the supplies (paint, reducer, clearcoat) should be in the neighborhood of $150-$250 alone for a pint size. Which is more than enough for a full bike. Unless you're going for some showroom bike paint job, I'd suggest going to someone you know that paint or to a smaller shop.

What I want to do is... candy apple red body and then black tribal flames/wings on the side, (it might be black body and dark candy apple red wings/flames... IDK yet)

I will design the wings etc by myself to be airbrushed and yes, I am going for some showroom bike paint job. I want it to be it's best and unique.

I would do it by myself if I knew how to do it but since its my daily ride right now, it has to wait until I get spare fairings.

OK, Here is my question: how much do you guys think I am looking at to get this painting project done?
