F4i problem solved...
hey guys,
Just wanted to let you guys know that all the trouble I had out of the 01 f4i I bought was due to a fuse....a $108 fuse to be exact. I finally gave in today and took it to the dealership....I had been gone maybe 2 hours and they called to tell me it was a fuse...and also the idling stem was screwed completely out as well. There were a couple of you guys who mentioned that it might be the idling screw...I felt a little dumb that I didn't check that small little thing more carefully...I just didn't think it would have that much of an effect on the bike....or why it was completely out in the first place unless it's something the previous owner had tinkered with and never understood why it would never idle right. Either way...the labor was $64 and hour, and they had planned on running a $150 diagnostic electrical/charging test, but luckily for me I got out of there with a little over a hundred dollars spent.....just thankful it was something simple.
I hate I had to spend that money in a way, but in another I was so frustrated it's almost worth it...so yay! I can finally finish my planned projects for this bike and get it on the road!
Thanks to all of you who posted on the forum to help me out, it was greatly appreciated and at least I learned some things about the bike anyway....not a total loss.

I feel your pain. Last weekend I blew the running lights fuse in my car while towing my bike because of bad trailer wiring and had to stop at a gas station to get a new one. They charged me $2.69 for one fuse. Then to make matters worse I still had to go out in the rain and install it myself. haha
Its great that you got your bike back running good. Sometimes its worth it to just take it to the stealership and let them fix it. Keep the rubber side down.

I'm having a very similar issue. I ordered new plugs tonight, so i'm hoping that will do the trick or else i might have to take it into the shop.
