Default f4i engine build...

So I found a '01 f4i engine for 50 bucks. my current engine is just fine..

timing was messed up from an improperly installed timing chain and some valves were bent..

A friend and I tore the engine down today and found this..

no idea where this is from. not from the pistons might be from the chain tensioner guide? found it in the crank case.

here's the bent valves.

the tranny, clutches, and block are all in good shape. so is the head.. basically we could throw in new bearings valves, and rings (y not while in there) and call it a day. but i think we're going to get a lil crazy with it

we were looking at boring the block out to 618cc and then installing a wiseco kit. then a port and polished head with a pcIII and custom tune.

any idea what this will amount? im thinkin this project should run under 1500 everything said and done. does this sound reasonable.

is the stock bottom end up to the task of higher compression/slightly bigger pistons?

here's the kit

please let me know

thanks fellas..

The block will handle it no problem. JE and Wiseco pistons run a little over $500 online, complete with rings and pins. Con. rods are another $250. Gaskets are cheap; should be able to get them all for $50. I'd get some used valves...20-30 bucks?

any idea where i can pickup used valves? I'll keep my eyes peeled. they are way expensive from honda!

will the stock connecting rods not be able to hold up to the higher compression?
thanks!

Why not try and get another "parts" engine?

You won't need the connecting rods, no...but if you find a deal on them, or as part of a package, it certainly wouldn't hurt. Valves might be a bit tricky to find, but take a look at people parting out bikes, especially on Stuntlife. Lots of blown F4i engines that people are taking apart and selling individual components; I'm sure you could get all the valves for less than $50.

i found a head for a f4 shipped to my door for 80 or less depending upon the ebay auction.

the engines in the f4's were the same as the 01 f4i's from what i've been reading up on. well the heads and head gaskets at least

lol found a new head gasket (honda) on ebay for 6 bucks shipped too. **** buying new valves! just machine the old ones

also thanks for ur help man. i've been checkin out stunt life (im a member there) nothing has popped up for that so far tho.

also if you have any insight on where to find these big bore kits let me know

so far i've found a wiseco kit for $605. comes with the head gasket, pistons (no conn. rods) and something else ahha i forget.
