New to the forum here...I have owned a 2000 929 for about 3 years, laid it down and cracked the lower case on the left side in several places. I started off by having it welded back up, which worked for awhile, but not well enough. I decided to take the opportunity to rebuild the motor.

I've built several small block Chevy motors, so I have a good general idea of what I'm doing, however I've never done a complete teardown of any sportbike motor. I'm looking for any and all advice I can get on the subject, plus some specific questions.

Will a 2001 929 lower case work with a 2000 upper case? (After the requisite machine work is done of course)
What parts do you recommend for bearings, rotating assembly, aftermarket cams, etc.? I still plan on riding the bike on the street and I don't want to mess around with race gas.
