well my girlfriend's f4i started surging lately. It first happened under 5k rpm's and was fine over that, but recently it got worse at 6k on the freeway at 70mph the FI light came on for about 1 second then the bike lost all power for that one second, it happened twice on me on about 7 exits down the freeway and I havent ridden it since.

I tried putting seafoam in the tank and ran it through it and at first it seemed to be working just fine but then that FI light came on. I guess it's just bad injectors? the bike is under warrenty until 2010 but the dealer cant see it till aug 31st, which sucks I asked them to check it out in mid July so I want to fix this myself if i can.

 

Did you check the battery wires? If they are lose that will happen. It is very dangerous when it does this because the bike jerks and it is unpredictable. It happened to me when I took my battery out to do work on the bike. I put it back in and thought everything was ok until I was riding and the FI light came on and the bike shut off and came back on over and over again. I did some research and found out that was my problem. Now I make sure to tighten the terminals with a socket wrench and not a screwdriver.

because on the way to cycle gear and back it almost didn't start it kinda thought about it then it did start.
