The red fi light is the fuel injection light. if this light stays on when the engine is started then you have a fuel injection problem but there are so many you need a mechanic to look at it. It could be anything form a bad injector to someone removing the O2 sensor the wrong way.
There is a way to pull the code. Get a copy of the manual and it will tell you how. Once you do it the FI light will flash a certain amount of times then the manual will tell you what that means and that should point you in the right direction.
im currently fondeling with the map sensor on my bike...
it is located on the LHS of the bike fixed to the bottom of the airbox. to remove it you have to remove the air box... (yea i know stupid design..)
be sure to check your vac lines to the sensor as well as mine was cloged with **** and caused to make the bike run rich.
hope that helps
