I just bought a 2001 f4i with some body damage... the guy gave me new fairings with a crappy paint job, so I'll be repainting the whole bike.

My question is this... I can't seem to find the rear seat lock for the life of me. I don't know if it was damaged whenever the body damage happened, but I'm not even sure where it's supposed to be. My owner's manual is probably under the rear seat, so I can't check in there either. Can somebody tell me where the seat lock is supposed to be for the '01 f4i?

 

Just above the license plate unless it was modded.

 

He's got some sort of aftermarket undertail on there, so he probably modded it somehow (that must be why I can't find it). I guess I'll have to call him and hope he answers...

What do people with aftermarket undertails usually do?

 

Get in there with a flashlight and look all around...it can't be far.

 

Check rightunderneath the tail.

I think some modded undertails have the key hole hidden behind the license plate. Try that also.

 

Should be underneath the undertail, perhaps like others suggested behind license plate. It can't be far from that location because the cable is only so long lol

 

The undertail looks really cheap, so I'm guessing it just doesn't have a hole at all... if that's the case, I guess I'll just take off the undertail and look around in there.
