Default Engine Ticking: Valves or Injectors?

02 F4i with 18K miles, recently installed a Yoshi exhaust. Bike runs and idles fine. Prior to exhaust install I did not hear what I would describe as a metallic engine tick which is rpm related. (Could be due to inattention on my part.) After install, I was able to hear the ticking, not loud but there if you listen for it. Also seems to be slightly louder when engine is cold. Not CCT, I know what that sounds like.

Still new to the bike and don't know enough to distinguish between injector tick and valve tick. If valve tick, is a little normal or is it time for adjustment? Any advice? Thanks

Exhaust leak most than likely. Did you replace the entire pipe or just part of it? Look at all the exhaust connections, especially at the header to the engine.

Haven't had a chance to take a close look, work is keeping me busy. I did notice yesterday riding to and from work that I couldn't hear it at all, no tick on startup or when fully warm.

Changed my petrol to 87 instead of the 93. No more ticks/buzzing up in the rpms.

I finally found time to pull things apart and install new plugs. While looking around afterwards I did check the tightness on things I could get a socket or wrench on, everything seemed tight. Started the bike up without the fairings and listened carefully around the engine. Final analysis appears to be the slightest ever manual cct adjustment noise. Good to know that it's a quick and easy fix. Thanks for all the input!
