Default Engine starts then cuts out

Hi,
2003 35k miles good service history. Bike starts and runs then cuts out after a few minutes. It won't start again (or prime) but has battery power cranks ok just won't start. If you wait a few minutes it will prime then it will start. Then the same things happens again...and again.
I've changed the plugs and air filter and checked hoses etc. 2 of the plugs looked as if the mixture was a bit rich and the bike does have a strong smell of fumes when it starts. The bike fell over in the wind (got under the cover) a few weeks ago but I don't its related to this issue. I did think the banking level sensor but then I'm guessing it would not be cranking etc. I am presuming the pump is OK because it does prime (although not just after it cuts out you have to wait a couple of minutes). I'm thinking fuel pressure regulator? Any help much appreciated :-)
many thanks
Nicky

If its not priming anymore until it sits for a while I'd assume the pump is going out. It should prime every time you cycle the key.

I'd also say fuel pump or possibly pump relay.

Thanks for responses - I managed to fix the pump priming issue. I had bypassed a failing system 3 datatool alarm with 2 jumper wires (one to starter one ignition I think). Anyway the contact must have been going open when running and making contact when cold/ cooling down. I've put better jumpers in for the time being - priming every time. When I get the cash I'll have someone remove the Datatool alarm properly.

Great that you managed to sort it, third party alarms are a nightmare in the making
