I had 12K on my chain and sprockets. It was also far from the 'replace chain' indicator.

Neither, I just wanted to replace everything with higher-quality parts.

I had a similar issue a while back. What happened was axle grease had gotten on the threads while reinstalling, so even though it was torqued, the axle was moving. Degreasing the axle bolt & nut fixed it.
Axle torque spec is 69 lbs. ~ easy to remember

You DON'T torque the adjusters at all, you torque the axle nut to 69 ft. lbs. And quite goin to the damn shop to fix the simplest of things.

Yeah, that was the lack of practice knowledge.
I see how the adjusters work now, everything is super simple. Just get the axle nut torqued to 69lbs and good to go.

The swingarm wear indicator only tells you when your chain has stretched to the point of replacment. It has nothing to do with sprockets or wear on the chain like tight spots. Chains tend to loosen up really quick when they are going bad. My stock set went 16,000 miles with no wear on the sprockets at all and not even 1/4 of the way from "new" on the indicator then I went past "replace" within 2 weeks and 500 miles. It also welded one link together and had 3 other very tight spots by the end.
