Downpipes CBR 600 F1

Hmmm, would be interested to hear their response... it's a shame about the flat spot though, most annoying - especially after they said it would be fine. My bike is purely a weekend toy though so a 7k flat spot would pi$$ me off no end.
The only real solution is something along the lines of a PCIII power commander and a remap, it all depends on how rich you feel at the moment.
Thanks for the info about the gaskets too .
EDIT:
A minor thought; when I patched up a large rust hole in my headers a few months back the bike ran rather different (poorly) for the whole weekend. I disconnect my battery every week as I am too tight to buy a trickle charger but when I reconnected everything and ran it the next weekend it ran perfectly... perhaps the ECU can reset itself if everything is disconnected and allowed to discharge?
Probably not but it's worth a try for the sake of a few minutes...

So I got a reply.
"Hello Neil,
Sorry to hear of the problems you are having, we have had a couple of issues in the past regarding the CBR600F1, but like we said, its when people have fitted non standard air filters etc. Have you checked your air filter?
Please let us know how you get on."
So, i guess that is my job for the weekend then. :-( Feels like it has hit the rev limiter at 7000rpm. It is starting to get to me. Gurrrrrrr

Ah, that is very annoying...
It is probably running lean at 7k rpm, lean and therefore hot. If it was running lean at other parts of the rev range too then theoretically the valve gear might get so hot that it burns or melts.
Check your airfilter, if there is some high performance K+N or something then switch it for a standard Honda one; I can't see it making a huge difference if I am honest but is still worth a shot.
Good luck mate

Told them about the issue and basicly, they are not borered. TBH, from the chat i had with the tech guy i am unsure if he knows the full impact on A/F ratio the down pipes can have. Currently, i still have them on the bike, but this is more because i use my CBR for a work & back work horse. If this was my weekend bike I would rip them off and replace with OEM parts or ones with balance pipes.
I am still considering replacing them in a standard set of pipes where to come up at the right money. Hope this help.
Regards,
Bob

If it makes you feel any better - I just replaced my downpipes for a set of aftermarket pipes WITH the balancer pipes. Had my fingers crossed but I too have the 6-7k dead spot. Am now commuting on it so am in the same position as you (i.e. no time to **** about with it).
To meet emmissions legislation the manufacturers programme in a lean spot at this region as it is cruising rpm, when we change the pipes the flow of gases and the pressure waves of gases inside are changed and affect flow of air through the motor.
I'm collecting up my beer tokens for a power commander
Motad apparantly pride themselves on being a direct replacement for OEM without a change in A/F ratios, marketing bull**** I suspect.
Bob, if you do decide to sell your old pipes, I may know someone who would be interested if the price is right.
Throw me a PM if you do .
