not 100% positive b/c im not looking at my bike right now, but my g/f's bike is lowered, mine isnt. she has about 3" of forks coming through the triple tree. if it hasnt been lowered, then i believe it should be almost flush (except for the bolts that protrude).

here's mine 1st (NOT lowered), sorry......couldnt find a good pic of the triple tree.....
and here's a pic of my g/f's LOWERED F4i, look to the right of the pic, you can see how much the forks protrude from the triple tree.....
i hope that is somewhat helpful to ya!

if you are refering to my g/f's lowered bike.......
its all in the tires! she used to have some squared off (or so it felt) tires, and i have PP's on mine. so when i'd ride hers, it felt like.......complete ****! i had to fight the bike in all the turns. well, time came for her to get new tires and she got PP's aswell. now, its a whole new ride.......feels AWESOME! i particularly dont like riding her lowered bike out of fear that i'll drag parts. im used to being able to throw my bike into turns pretty hard, but i have to conciously remember not to do that on hers. but to your original question, haha......got a bit off track, her bike handles excellent, its all in the tires!
