Default Dirty around the primary sprocket

I was cleaning my chain and I wanted to look at the primary sproket for wear (I bought my bike recently). There was a lot of dirt and grease around the cover and spacer. I cleaned it up, anyone else see a build up there?

I've been having an odd vibration, looking everywhere to see where it could come from.

You mean the front sprocket? Yeah, that gets filthy. Rear sprocket fairs better since it can fling crud off. But the sprocket cover keeps the crug contained.

I cleaned my chain earlier today and there was some build up there. But I clean in there every time I clean the chain so it doesn't get bad.

yeah the wax on the chain tends to hold onto dirt any other kind of junk that gets around there. Clean it off an remember to re wax your chain.

My chain and sprockets are gross. The front left of my swing arm is entirely black. No worries.

Thanks. I'm just trying to find the source of an odd vibration I get, maybe this will fix it. Though probably not.

Is the vibration only when moving or sitting still. Maybe you lost a wheel weight. Or got a flat spot on you tire.
