difference between 01 and 06 exhausts

Default difference between 01 and 06 exhausts

i have a chance to get an exhaust for pretty cheap. only problem is its for an 01 and i have an 06. i hear the midpipe is somewhat different. i tried searching for an answer on here, but to no avail. thank you in advance

Well I had tried to fit a stock 04-06 on my 02, and it was a bit too low so I had to make a bracket to get it to reach the bolt hole for it. So I'd imagine that an 01 would be too high up on your 06, but I can't guarantee that for sure.

I know the Two Brothers exhaust part number is the same for all years of the F4i. I'm pretty sure the main difference is the bung for the O2 sensor. Thats a pretty easy fix if the exhaust your buying doesnt have one. Just take it to a welding shop and have them weld a nut on there.

There is also a thread around this forum somewhere on how to bypass the O2 sensor with a resistor.

All 2006 F4i's have the oxygen sensor in the midpipe, same as all California-model F4i's (of any year). It's possible to bypass with no real harm, but it's best to keep it if you aren't familiar with the process.
