Default Exhausts..

What companys still make exhausts for our 96 honda cbr 1000fs? And whats the difference between the 4 into 1 exhausts and just the slip ons (performance whys)? Do you have to rejet for both?

The only thing I found the other night was Vance and Hines, 4 into 1 full systems for about $375 and then Vance and Hines replacement cans for both sides for $27 each.

the 4 into 1 is really 4 into 2 into 1. similar to stock. therefore, you probably dont gain much out of a header change unless the primaries are bigger, which they arent or they wouldnt fit into the exhaust ports.

unless youre looking for something crazy loud (like me) then just replace the stock cans on the bike with something else. however, you might have to get creative with your piping since the stock exhaust ends underneath the bike still with the stock header and collector.

my V&H is 100% for sure 4-2-1. it has one set of collectors before the case on the bottom, goes around it on both sides, then comes into one after it. not that i really care since i am not worried about backpressure in the least, but im just saying mine is not 4-1 at all. mine isn't the chrome header though, either. i have the mild steel one. why would they have made two different header sets? that just seems dumb to me.

I think the 4 to 2 to 1 give you better mid's and mine is better low.

The chrome headers make the system cost a couple of hundred more at the moment. And they are completely covered up. I guess they would look cool if you were going naked.

Default Exhaust..

Well I know about the vance and hines and I can install the jet kit, but don't have the tools to resync the carbs. I like the power I got now I just want my bike to be a little bit louder. I heard there's a mod for drilling holes in the stock exhaust cans. I might give that a shot.
