I had a little slipage on my left foot the other day a laid the bike down, snapped the left side mirror, so just for sh**'s and giggles I go to the dealer and they give me a price of 100.00 for the freaken mirror, OMG are they kidding me? So I go to a local shop that does mods and service and they give me a new mirror for 26.45, in stock! The honda dealer ship can really go F*** themselves. Don't get me wrong, I don't mine paying for quality work and service, but come on. Glad I shopped around!

 

well...you don't get quality work and service at the dealer anymore either...

 

yeah that's the truth, I think I'm going to try to do some basic stuff on my bike in the future like oil changes and chain adjustments..

 

do it yourself. it will make you smart and stuff.

Heres a funny dealer story too! I did the same thing, went to the dealer to price a mirror (mine was the right side) they quoted me 100.00 also, then while looking through their inventory in the showroom now, i found one for 26.95!!! WTF Needless to say, out of spite I didnt by that one either. I'd rather pay shipping from an online store or ebay!

 

It's all dealers though...

Mitsubishi are the only ones that carry transmission fluid for their cars - $10/quart... come on.

That's the way it is. Personally, if you're a biker, you need to be able to do everything to that bike except stuff like tranny work andcarbs. The hardest part about working on your bike should be figuring out how to prop it up - more people need bike stands.

 

it was probably 100 for OEM...26 is the LP or whatever aftermarket brand

 

I'm sure thats what it was, but damn you'd think with the net hampering their sales they would try to be competitive, they didnt even offer an aftermarket one to me. They just said oh right side huh, well thats a hundred bucks, if they would have said but look i have this one but its not OEM it would have been a different story.

 

I've seen it posted many times: Dealership=Stealership. That is ALWAYS the case, be it your motorcycle or your vehicle. There are many options than paying full book list price!
