Default Cutting down exhaust can?

I have been thinking about doing this for a few weeks and was wondering what the advantages of doing this? Will I get any power gains? I know it will be louder and will probley look better too. Any info on this would be great. Also maybe a quick how to with pics would be awesome. Thanks.

Search. I know there's info. As far as power gains, you don't gain any power. If anything just less restrictive exhaust flow.

I think it's all cosmetic. I've been thinking about doing it myself but I would kind of like to pick up a cheap extra can from ebay so I don't possible destroy my Yoshi RS-3 or if I hate the result.
Performance wise if you already have an aftermarket slip on you probably wont feel anything significant. If your cutting down your stocker than maybe you'll feel a performace increase. But then you get into the whole argument of back pressure and I think you could have a whole forum on people's opinions concerning that. If you are going to cut it down and you have a power commander you can get a custom map to match the shorter can.

Alright I didnt think it would do anything besides make it louder and look better. I do have a power commander though. The main reason I kinda wanna do it is the can has a split in the carbonfiber do I figured I could cut that much off and it would look better and not have that split. If I don't like it I'll just get a new slip-on. Someone on here has a scorpion extreme street or an awsome price so I may end up with that I'd he still has it if I don't like the how the cut can sounds.

I believe it's in the how-to section of the site. I cut 8" off my Yoshi RS-3 and put fresh packing in. It made it look and sound great, yet wasn't too loud. It was actually the exact sound level I wanted.

^You could re-use the old stuff, or go to any exhaust shop.

Oh i didnt think about that. Would putting more packing in change the sound much? Also can i cut the can from the bottom? The can is cracked about and inch from were the metal part is riveted to the can on the bottom. The how to in the how to section didnt have pictures. If anyone has pictures of how they did it or can link me to a thread that does on here or any other forum that would be awesome. Thanks guys.
