Default Clutch slipped??

Im not really sure what happend but one recently, i decided to jump on the freeway and gave it maybe half throttle to get away from some cars and when the bike hit 9k rpms it slipped and shot to about 10.5k, cant be exact was more focused on the road, but it acted as if i just pulled the clutch in a little and let it back out. (my hand was not on the clutch.)
this has never happend before but the bike does have 24XXX miles on it, i bought with 17k and nothing like this has ever happend. im just kinda curious as to what it was? ... bike was warm, was riding back roads for a good 20 mins.
any thoughts? bike hasnt done it since.

What kind of oil are you using and how old is it?
Could your rear tire have slipped a little?

the oil i used was honda pro HP4 motorcycle oil. SAE10W-40. ... it is due for an oil change, replaced oil in early spring at around 21k miles

as for the rear wheel slipping, i dont think it was that, i was in 4th gear so i couldnt imagine a half throttle roll on would break the tire loose. i could be wrong, but i dont think it was that.

my bike did the same thing a few days ago, but i know it wasn't a clutch slip, would you consider the location you were at a heavy traffic lane?
i was just going through an intersection and the bump was enough to slip the rear, it felt nice. i was either in third of fourth, you're putting a bit of horses down at that rpm.
anything slippery and it could of done it, riding in the center of the lane is no better, specially if you are coming to a red light, lot of slippery crap there

your oil should be good for at least another 2k miles. from what i hear, clutch slipping is when you open the throttle and your bike roars but hardly goes anywhere.

+1 when my clutch was slipping (10k miles on the bike) you can def smell the thing burning when it slips. If your going to get a new clutch get the EBC "racing" one.... only difference is that its 20-30% stiffer... engages better IMO

I see absolutley no reason to get an aftermarket clutch when the stock holds whatever you can throw at it and lasts forever.
I highly doubt your clutch slipped unless you bought a super abused bike. Chances are very high that your real wheel slipped on gravel or a slick spot.

i appreciate all the feedback guys, i ride the bike about 3+ times a week and this was the only encounter with this situation, im thinking it might of been a small oil spot on the road in the right spot at the right time, i didnt smell anything.
when it happend it was so fast my immediate response was to let go of the throttle so i didnt feel anything physically with the rear end of the bike.

if it was the clutch itll probly happen agian and agian each time becoming more frequent then my conclusion is it must be the clutch and worst comes to worst replace the old one.

thanks for all the help guys ill keep everything mentioned in mind for the future
