Glad I was close to home, cable snapped going up from second into third. Let the bike stall and then walked it home, only about half mile. Wife saw me rolling the bike up the driveway on the Ring camera, I was sweaty and looked defeated and heard her chuckling over the camera speaker.
Installed a new and bought one of those Oxford brand holders to properly lube the cable. Admittedly, I didn't pay much attention to the cable while I was rebuilding the bike so lessons learned. Ride safe everyone (and lube your ****).
And it was early in the morning too, around 6am. No traffic to worry about and I could safely walk down the road, plus nobody to stop and point and laugh. All the drama on my bike is within half a mile of home.
I would have rode it home. Put in neutral, start it idling, get it rolling down the road a little and pop it into 1st or 2nd and just idle it home. But I'm lazy.

The idea crossed my mind but I didn't know if it would work. I've done clutchless shifting in a car but never tried it on a bike.
