i notice on the F4i clip ons are below the triple tree unlike other 600's where theyre below.

can they be placed below the triple tree on an f4i or would it negatively affect handling? i love the f4i but also prefer lower placed clip ons.

 

if you want them lower then just buy some lowering links and drop the front of your bike a bit same effect and you wont fubar the handling as much as moving the clipons around

 

What??? If you lower the fork tubes through the tripple the clip ons (handle bars) will still be in the same place and lowering the front will severly affect the handling of the bike.

As far as the clip ons below the tripple, you can do it, but you will probably need some aftermarket clip ons since the F4is have a weird top so they couldn't be mounted flush up to the trpiile clamp and you would have to loose the air duct covers and it will change the overall feel of the bike. mabye start with turning them out a little to give you a more agressive feel, but I don't know what else to tell you

If you want lower clip ons, just get some aftermarket clips. Moving the clip ons has NO EFFECT on suspension. Moving the fork legs in the trees will. DON'T move the fork legs.

 

i think i'll start with turning them out a little. the aggressive angle sounds more of what im looking for. thanks. the f4i seems like the only track bike that has clip ons above the tt. comparable to the yzf600r and the katana. i wonder why would honda not place them below like all the other track bikes. i know the turning radius is affected with placement. i just want sharp handling in twisties.

 

I have my clips "out" as far as possible. Yes, if you get some aftermarket clips with a real low angle, then they will hit the ram air ducts and effect the turn radius.

Clip-ons are a comfort thing though and really won't make a handling difference unless you dump them and get some big MX bars, but that sounds like the exact opposite of what you want.

Don't worry. The F4i has more cornering performance than you will ever be able to use on the street.

 

gotcha blackdog, thanks to all for input. vortex clip ons look nice but i read they have an issue with the air ducts. ? i heard rr's have short u turn radius like the r6 so thats another issue for lower clip ons. i find it hard to do uturns on the f4i as well. my f3 (had top clip ons) and it could skate figure 8's as if on autopilot, but id like to be challenged to shift my weight more off the seat more with the f4i

 

yep, I have no problems pulling stupid tight U's on the F4i. You just have to get used to shifting your weight on it.

Pretty much anything you do to lower the clips is going to require removing the ram air covers.
