CCTL Key? Please help

The key is just there to lock the CCT in a retracted state.
IIRC I don't think the key is long enough to rewind it. Instead, use a screwdriver (anti-clockwise I think) in the top to turn it and push the extending finger part in using your hand at the same time. When it is retracted, hold it in as you insert the key into the top. The thin part goes into the slot your screwdriver was turning and the wide part slots into the grooves in the aluminium body, to stop the bottom undoing. If you get it wrong it will just extend fully, so try again.
No need to send it back just because a tab fell out, unless it actually has been tampered with of course.
