yo mang...toss the cat...but do it with a new slip on that comes with the midpipe.
by all means keep the O2 sensor...like was said above, for the F4i, only leans out the mixture during prolonged cruising at constat RPM, more like highway riding.
this is good, cat is bad...so instead of gutting it, just get the slip on.

i have an akra, no O2 sensor...gas mileage stinks mang...

Hi there Tahoe !

I was thinking in that, but is not necessary to reprogram the ECU in that case ?

Thanks and cheers

hi jorge,

no you do not need to reprogram the ECU...but just like any other slip ons, you would eventually want to for better performance. however, if you don't, your bike will not run like a dog or anything...it just optimizes what the pipe can offer...which isn't much, like a buck fitty and a pbnj or something...no real hp.

Thanks Tahoe, I get it now.

I also have Akapovic almost new from my last 750 Gixxer, so maybe I will use it with a new middle pipe and have a good sound!

cheers

My California model came with an O2 sensor, and a cat(which is part of the factory slip on). I have seen O2 sensor eliminator kits from power commander. And they're pretty cheap, like $15.00. As posted above the O2 sensor only leans out the motor at constant speeds, so it's not needed, but If you just remove it the FI light will come on. The hp gain I've noticed with an aftermarket slip on(D&D) over the factory slip on is tremendous!!

personaly, I would just buy a NON-California ECU off of ebay and put a PCIII on it. Dont have to worry about the ECU at all, no need for cat or O2 and better performance with the PCIII....but thats just me

Hi Air4Andy !

Your recomendation is to not to touch either the cat or the factory can ?

Cheers

No no, you can, just don't take the O2 sensor out entirely. I personally this a solution with the sensor still functioning is best, but at least use an o2 sensor eliminator like stated above. If you just pull it out, FI light will come on and cruising gas mileage will suffer.
