Can we use 600RR internals?
Hi everyone,
I'm using a F4i to power a Formula SAE car, and am looking into high compression pistons. I have found Wiseco's 12.8:1 set, but nothing from anybody else. I saw that JE makes a 13.5:1 setup, but that is for the 600RR. Are the internals interchangeable between the F4i and the RR motor?
Thanks

Good question. There are a few similarities and many differences. The engine in the RR has dual injectors. As such I'm sure the top end would be different. I'd be surprised if the pistons were interchangeable.
First off why not? Bore and stroke Identical Compression identical. So the spacing cant be that different. The only thing i would check is the depressions on the pistons aside from that i think you are set. Or get a thicker HG and boost it! Why not ask the question on fsae.com? I am also on the Fsae team at my school. just out of curiosity why would you want to use rr internals anyways?

Called JE and didn't get through, but I tried again today and I spoke with a rep. He said the wrist pins are different, so we can't use the RR pistons in the F4i. They discontinued their line of F4i pistons, thats why I was curious if the RR's would work
