you should be fine. just call cometic and get custom head gaskets made for it. there website is www.cometic.com . they made some for my 84 cr500r that i could not get the base gasket to seal.It has been 4 years and it is still not leaking.

The bike is six hours away from me until I get down to school in three weeks. My buddy that works at the shop is going to text me details when he gets off work.

you can deck the head to get rid of the erching and if there is not enough clearance here is what we do at the race shop and it works but we go through our bikes all the time so!! you can get 2 head gaskets then seperate them then you use the top of one and the bottom of one and you will have 2 centers this does work on our race machines but I am not sure if I would expect it to last for 10,000 miles but if you do it right it will run very well and make up the thickness you need, but you can take a little more than ten thousanths of an inch off of the head without having clearance issues but check when you put it back together, you can rotate the engine maually and see if you are going to have a problem, it you do then get the stuff you need and do the above mentioned procedure!!!

even thou bike shop may not go threw the process of owner ship see if you can work out a deal with him and get the title urself. Abandon stuff is easy to retitle since no one will take owner ship. I had to do this for my dirt bike and took about 2 months. All i had to do was send a letter of release to the last owner. Didn't matter if the guy responded or not just as long as it was certified mail that delievery and an attempt to release ownership had been made was good enough for me state.
