Alright, you got convinced. When I do my brake job, I'm goin to Northside(local hardware) and buying some grade 8s. Why in the hell would they such soft bolts on such a critical part? I just dont get it. They snap off at 14ftlbs! How much force is on them when you have to slam on the brakes? I'm sure its a whole lot more than 14ftlbs. And I understand there are six of em, but whats that add up too, 84ftlbs. Thanks for the heads up, you just save a few wrenches from getting thrown around.

Hey Skoobydoobie, if you are just doing brakes, then you won't have any problems as I don't think that the rotors will need to come off to do pads. The book also states to replace the caliper mounting bolts (two on each caliper that mounts to the forks). I did not replace these bolts as I did not want to wait. The caliper mounting bolts are to be torqued a little higher I think (sorry, I am not at my computer so I don't have the manual available) and I just used some medium loctite and hand tightened them.

I am not sure if you have to remove the calipers to do the pads either, but I am not sure. I will probably look into getting some higher grade bolts myself from a local hardware store too, but didn't want to have longer than needed heads. I think that www.bikebandit.com has the bolt sizes in their parts fiche.

Let me know how you make you. Hopefully this helps whoever has to take off their rotors for anything because those bolts will probably snap at somewhere around 10 - 12 lbs of torque.
