Default Break-in period?

So, After a slight mishap with Cycle Gear, I got my new Pilot Powers on this weekend and haven't had a chance to ride because of weather. should be able to get out soon, but how many miles shouldI put onthem beforeI can really start riding aggresively again? I heard someone say they used to rub down the tires with some sand paper beforeriding for the first time on them. any suggestions??

I've heard of people doing the rub down but never done that myself. I just take it easy for the first 150 miles. Take a short ride one day and tac on a few hundred then you should be fine after that.

You want to ride at least a 100 miles to rub the and chemicals off the tires before really getting aggressive. Make sure to do some slight twisties to get it off the edge for sure...or else...

sandpaper is good to get rid of your chicken strips.

i'm going to go out on the limb and say...just take some twists, and slowly and progressively increase your lean angles in the turns. rule of thumb is 100 miles...but if you look at the reality behind it, what if you go 100 miles on I-80 through the flatlands completely straight? are the tires ok to use in turns? heck no!

it took me a couple of laps on a track to scrub in my diablos, but you probably don't have a track around you...so just take it easy until you see that the armor all look is gone from the tire.

Awesome thanks! looks like I have some riding to do. I'm heading back to school in a little more than a week, then coming home at the end of September to head to the Dragon for my Dad's 50th. So it looks like in the next week i have to break in my tires haha

Common sense wins the day again, Imagine that. You can't put a number on it like Tahoe said. When the tire doesn't look slippery anymore, it's not.
