Heres a little reminder I carry around to ALWAYS wear boots ! Something punctured my ankle (not sure what) and they had to cut it open to sew up the "bag" surrounding the joint. Luckily there was no infection, cuz I could have lost the foot. I was told that your body doesn't let antibiotics into the bag around the joint. Not sure if thats true or not, but the poss of losing my foot scared that sht out of me anyway !!

wow...looks like you could use a little loofa'ing' on the sides of your foot.
antibiotics is in the blood mang...so anything that's in the body cavity and 'open' (not filled with blood) the meds can't get to...sort of like if you spleen ruptures...they have to clean you up and keep you open so the stuff can drain out...cause puss will just sit there and get nastier...and cause infection.

Its good to see the experienced riders wear the proper gear. I see people riding here in my town with nothing but the standard helmet and a tshirt and sneakers. It makes me laugh at them, and it also makes me feel sorry for them when they hit the pavement with no protective gear.

Helmet, obviously. Alpinestars Gore-Tex boots. I have several jackets: a Fieldsheer mesh and Icon Timax mesh (pretty hot here in middle Georgia) and a Tourmaster Jett for the cold. All of them with good armor. Several pairs of gloves: Joe Rocket cold weather gloves, Tourmaster and Icon mesh, again all armored. Looking around right now for some pants. Love jeans like everyone else, but slowly realizing it's a bit silly to leave your knees unprotected. And I've been riding 40 years! (My only injuries have been a fractured fibula from hitting a (very surprised) deer and a bruised shoulder from a parking lot drop.

Im gonna take some lessens from you guys. Last year I lost control of my bike and slammed into a parked truck. All i was wearing was jeans, t-shirt, sneakers and a cheap *** helmet. When i got up i somehow had no shoes on and my helmet was probably 40 feet away and i had some pretty good road rash.. This year im gonna listen to you guys and always wear my jacket and finally buy a good helmet. It was a bad lessen but i think that i learned from that experience.
